LO4: RECORDING CINEMATIC FOOTAGE

film entitled "N W A A R" is in the process of being created following the story of two characters with hidden, though similar identities as one has a classified document for another part of their group and the other has placed a rocket in the building that the first character visits. the mystery of this story reflects the genre

The editing process as it was when completed. there is a slight fault with the sound, which may be the red part where there is distortion. The film lacks in spoken dialogue but the sound is still named "dialogue" for speech.
Overlays and effects were added to the sequence to give the "noir" experience as the contrast was heightened and the lighting and colors toned down, referencing the films at the time.

Additional graphics, some with color appear in some of the scenes including the title sequences. The film noir style is demonstrated in most of the scenes with first person perspective and lighting.

Noir titles can have stylised titles as an overlay to the scene, which can be seen in this film
the scant use of colour was intentional as there was a small amount of colour in "nzumbi", an earlier film project preceeding "nwaar". There were much more references to the film in most of the acting, with the greyscale and the visual effects.  Sound effects can be heard during a scene where one of the characters is attacked with visions of various scenes after opening a classified document

UNIT 23

creating social media profiles

Social media profiles e.g. LinkedIn(tm) & Instagram(tm) profiles can be useful for making impressions on businesses similar to a CV. Certain Platforms may allow media formats such as 360 degree video to advertise  their business. A feature that is prominent or unique in a social media profile will boost followers. hashtags also boost posts as well as following others, also encouraging conversations with the already successful. The link with the existing will lead to a following.

The purpose of having a personal media profile online can be for many reasons, such as advertising a personal brand, interacting with people quickly, finding out about social events, or communicating with one's favourite athlete or artist. The reasons to have a personal media profile can be forever listed. Some industries though may benefit differently than others depending on the industry that they are in. For example, a film company would benefit from having an Instagram page, much more than having a LinkedIn profile if they were looking to advertise their services to clients. So depending on your industry, choosing the right online media personal profile can have a huge impact on the outcome one gets.

Explain what Inc. is?
Inc. is a n NYC-based magazine publisher that focuses on the small businesses & entrepenerships. One of their flagship issues contains the 500 most successful businesses, titled "Inc. 500" possibly named after "Fortune 500"
Explain what their goal is?
Are they using the right platform?
Twitter is a popular platform for businesses, small & large to post content & interact with personal profiles, giving them the chance to improve through suggestions from the users as is with many other social media platforms
Has their platform changed over the years?

Who are they trying to reach.
Inc's main goal is to reach the entrepeuners and small businesses online  with accounts so that when the company or person gets featured and then become more successful via Twitter after being mentioned by the Inc. page.

Twitter(tm) profiles for Strange Watch & the Inc magazine
With "Strange Watch", the company began during the age of social media and would have been adapted without any other method of distribution or media yet known since the social media appears to become the most popular way to advertise or display information.

CV example

One of the positives of having an online CV is that it is easier to access instead of having a paper one. This means that if it needs to be sent to a company then the user can easily send them the link to the CV. Another advantage is that the CV will be able to be sent overseas in faster times than a physical one.

One of the negatives about the online CV is that if the server is corrupted the CV could be lost. It could fall into the wrong hands. It is also not the best form of sending as mentioned above a server crash may be detrimental because if the user sends the link to their online CV, when there is lack of awareness of a crash it would be hard to understand the reason if or why a response has been left on hold. It is also putting a user's information online which is susceptible to being stolen for the personal information that is on the CV such as name, address, email address and phone number, all valuable information that a hacker may need. e.g. internet fraud and forging as well as the risk of plagiarism.

As online resources increases, online CVs were becoming more accepted and becoming the norm by a time around 2010. But in 2017, this online CV is outdated and very basic.

An online CV can be revisited, edited and updated easily after being sent the first time. A better form of an online CV though is having a LinkedIn profile which allows the user to describe their work history without putting out personal information.

A way a filmmaker in the 1980s would have promoted themselves to a distribution company is to have a
show reel of all their productions. They would have to send individual tapes of their content to
distribution companies. This would be a difficult task because they need to actually post this content
to companies and hope it remains safe in the mail. In 2017 this job would be a lot easier. It would just
entail creating a social media profile and post their content there. The productions can be seen by
millions if done properly and may be seen by a distribution company.
This situation in 2017 as mentioned above is a lot easier. A higher education course would just need to
be shown or given a link to the user’s profile where they would be able to view all the content. It would
lack the need of stamps or physical film rels, tapes, etc as well as risk of getting important items lost in
the mail. The higher education course would also be able to provide immediate feedback on the
product. Not to mention the creation of film is a lot easier in 2017 than it was in the 1980s which
would mean a prospective student may have a lot more content in their portfolio. There is a much
clearer improvement to the ease of access to self promotion in 2017 as to the 1980s.

5. There would be an education history, a profession and other skills included.
It would also be useful to have personal details such as the location (residence). Rough pieces can be
included to display the process of making the film. This includes everything that I have cut out of the
film during the editing process. If there were the correct resources, there would be a physical copy
alongside the digital version. Since the profile is online, digital is the most suitable. The way I would
convert or compress the files if needed are lossless (compressed without losing quality in sound or
pictures) video formats which will be used if the files get compressed.

6. Now, using yourself as the case study, what do you hope to do with the work you have created?
Who are you target audiences for your work?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of taking your work to your target audiences?
Chose a minimum of one of your own pieces of work as an example. I
dentify its medium and how you will adapt or repurpose it.

There would be a compilation and different versions of the films, including rough cuts and final
versions as well as ‘director’s cuts’. The target audience is meant to be as wide as possible at least
a “PG” rating.  The strengths include the target audience, due to the rating, it can appeal to a much
wider audience. the online format is free to view at any time.  The drawbacks could include
misunderstanding of the film , incompatibility of the film format as well as the attraction rate being
low in comparison to existing profiles e.g. “vloggers”.

7.  The platform by LinkedIn(r) was used since professional profiles have used this social media
platform before. There is an ‘online CV’ nature to the way content is organised which makes it ideal
for businesses looking for individuals with specific professions. These profiles will also be useful
for alumni to look for others that went or currently attend the same school, college or university

target audience

The LinkedIn account's target audiences is businesses & employers in search of an individual with skills,
alongside the evidence & the portfolio, it is possible to get to the target audience by listing various events
and experience in that particular section. In a more personal statement, my LinkedIn is targeted at businesses in the digital media sector because in the future i plan to do creative computing and media-related topics. This LinkedIn properly reflects who I am in a professional sense because it has my past qualifications such as music technology, IT and Digital media which employers and business people would be interested in. I chose LinkedIn because with the sector I am going into it can reach more people on this platform than other platforms.
